CER kick-off in Prague on October 12

WRC cars and stars will drive through the city centre of the Czech capital on Sunday, 12 October.

As a warm-up, Prague will be transformed into a motorsport stage on the Sunday before the Central European Rally, with the World Rally Cars rolling through the historic city centre for the opening show. Local hero Petr Kačírek Jr. will lead the parade, followed by drivers from the three factory teams competing in the FIA World Rally Championship: Adrien Fourmaux (France, Hyundai), Grégoire Munster (Luxembourg, Ford) and Sami Pajari (Finland, Toyota). The impressive line-up will also feature local heroes such as Filip Mareš (Toyota) and Jan Černý (Škoda), as well as Philip Geipel (Toyota) from Germany.

The programme will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Opletalova Street, in front of the Autoklub České republiky headquarters. Between 2:00 and 3:30 p.m., the police-escorted parade will pass the most famous sights of the Vltava metropolis, from the Rudolfinum to the National Theatre, the Dancing House, the National Museum, and the State Opera. During the approximately 45-minute stop at Jan Palach Square, visitors will have the opportunity to see the spectacular rally cars up close, get autographs, and take photos.

“To streamline procedures and make travel easier, we have decided not to hold the shakedown and special stage in Prague this year. However, we still want to give fans in the capital the opportunity to see the World Championship cars. The prologue marks the official start of the Central European Rally, and we hope that as many spectators as possible will line the route,” explains Tomáš Kunc, Managing Director of the Central European Rally.

Additionally, there is a great opportunity for fans to win tickets for the Central European Rally, which will take place for the third time in the border region of Czechia, Germany, and Austria from 16 to 19 October, by entering a photo competition to find the best picture of the rally parade.
