News and quotes Regrouping 1 Waldkirchen

The Central European Rally is nearing its end. The field has completed the first stage of the day and now has three more to go before reaching the winner’s podium in Passau. The weather conditions are good, the sun is shining, and the fans are lining the track in large numbers. At the regrouping in Waldkirchen after the first stage, some drivers shared their experiences.

#21 Yohan Rossel (FRA) / Florian Barral (FRA), Citroën C3 (Rally 2)

"My start to the day wasn’t bad. I had a small issue with my clutch, but it was okay during the stage."

#22 Nikolay Gryazin (BGR) / Konstantin Alexsandrov (ANA), Citroën C3 (Rally 2)

"We took it easy, no risks. We have a good gap behind us, so there’s no point in pushing too hard. Three more stages to go."

#27 Armin Kremer (GER) / Ella Kremer (GER), Skoda Fabia RS (Rally 2)

"We misjudged a slippery spot and slid into a ditch. Luckily, we got out, but there was a lot of dirt in the wheels causing vibrations. We had to drive very carefully. It shows how quickly a rally can be over. Now we’ll stay very focused to make it through the last three stages."

#30 Filip Mareš (CZE) / Radovan Bucha (CZE), Toyota GR Yaris (Rally 2)

"We had a pretty good start to the day. Our speed is good, we’re having fun, and we’re not taking any risks. The tracks are getting dirtier, which makes things tougher. My goal is to keep the car on the road and reach the finish safely."

#31 Marijan Griebel (GER) / Tobias Braun (GER), Skoda Fabia RS (Rally 2)

"It was a tricky start. The conditions are clear, but there was a lot of dirt and gravel on the road from the previous cars. There’s only one tire-width path to follow, and you need to be really precise. I could have been one or two seconds faster, but I’m happy with my time."

#39 Jan Černý (CZE) / Ondřej Krajča (CZE), Ford Fiesta Rally3 (Rally 3)

"Unfortunately, we went off the road and lost over 20 minutes. In a corner, I couldn’t brake and we went straight. A strange situation, but we made it."

#40 Filip Kohn (CZE) / Tom Woodburn (GBR), Ford Fiesta Rally3 (Rally 3)

"My morning was okay. I didn’t feel great in the car, but I still won the stage. So, things are looking good. We’ll push on the Power Stage."

#43 Hermann Gassner (GER) / Michael Wenzel (GER), Renault Clio Rally3 (Rally 3)

"The first stage wasn’t so cool. There was a lot of dirt on the road. Our time was okay. Now there are three more stages ahead of us, and we’re going to push hard."

#48 Claire Schönborn (GER) / Jara Hain (GER), Ford Fiesta Rally3 (Rally 3)

"The stage went pretty well. But it was quite rutted from the WRC cars, which made it slippery. But we managed to stay on the road. I’m very happy. The rally itself has been a mixed bag so far—everything from technical issues to perfect conditions to really tough ones. I hope we can finish strong and secure the seat for the Junior WRC."

#51 Thomas Pahlitzsch (GER) / Stefan Grundmann (GER), Volkswagen Polo GTI (Rally 2)

"The sun is shining, which is a great start to driving fast. The first stage went well, and I’m excited that we have three more to go. The CER is a fantastic rally, very different from the events normally held in Germany. The starting atmosphere was incredible, along with the extremely tough stages with completely different profiles. I hope we can race here again next year."

#53 Timo Weigert (GER) / Jasmin Weigert (GER), Renault Clio Rally3 (Rally 3)

"We were able to fix our brake problem from yesterday. So, we drove the first stage with full brake pressure. Now we’re looking forward to the rest of the stages—the sun is shining, and the fans are out on the track. We want to enjoy this. The CER is a great event for the entire region. The atmosphere is fantastic, and we’re really enjoying the rally. Unfortunately, we had the brake issue, but with a brand-new car, we expected a few hiccups—just didn’t think it’d last three days. Now we just want to enjoy Sunday."
