News and quotes SS 14 (Made in FRG 2)

Headlight beams in the twilight: the second run on the ‘Made in FRG’ stage once again delivered the best rally feeling. And it brought the reigning world champion a moment of reconciliation! Thierry Neuville set the fastest time on the special stage after struggling for a long time to find the right rhythm and optimal setup for his Hyundai. But now he drove away from everyone on the final 14.3 and was even 2.5 seconds faster than the fastest Hyundai driver on Saturday, Ott Tänak. Overall leader Kalle Rovanperä was clocked as the fourth fastest and thus ends the day in first place overall with a 36.3-second lead over second-placed Tänak.

#33 Elfyn Evans (GBR) / Scott Martin (GBR), Toyota GR Yaris Rally1

‘It seems we lost everywhere. We lacked speed this afternoon.’

#69 Kalle Rovanperä (FIN) / Jonne Halttunen (FIN), Toyota GR Yaris Rally1

’It was a good day. The afternoon felt a bit more difficult. The conditions were good. Tomorrow is the big day and I think it will be a close fight.‘

#8 Ott Tänak (EST) / Martin Järveoja (EST), Hyundai i20 N Rally1

’It went better than yesterday. I had a clean day. I did what I could. I'm satisfied. I'll keep up this pace, that's all I have.‘

#1 Thierry Neuville (BEL) / Martijn Wydaeghe (BEL), Hyundai i20 N Rally1

’The stage was more fun on slicks. It was an interesting day for us. We still had problems on uneven roads, but I felt better on better roads. We'll try to take that with us tomorrow and work in that direction. Tomorrow's stages should suit me and I hope to have fun.‘

#18 Takamoto Katsuta (JPN) / Aaron Johnston (IRL), Toyota GR Yaris Rally1

’It was a nice stage, but visibility was difficult. Thanks to the organisers for turning the anti-cuts. It was a long day and we have another long day ahead of us tomorrow.‘

#16 Adrien Fourmaux (FRA) / Alexandre Coria (FRA), Hyundai i20 N Rally1

‘I'm glad the day is over. We learned a lot and worked in the right direction. Let's see what we can achieve tomorrow.’

#5 Sami Pajari (FIN) / Marko Salminen (FIN), Toyota GR Yaris Rally1

’It was okay, nothing special happened. Driving in the dark is cool. Unfortunately, we don't do that very often in the WRC. That's a shame.‘

#13 Grégoire Munster (LUX) / Louis Louka (BEL), Ford Puma Rally1

‘There was some debris on the track. But it was difficult to see because we were driving at dusk. The afternoon was good and we'll try to carry that into Sunday.’

#55 Joshua McErlean (IRL) / Eoin Treacy (IRL), Ford Puma Rally1

’The rally is beautiful and fun. We're learning a lot. We went too far at a junction and hit the rear. After that, we were more careful. The day and the stages were challenging.‘

#25 Léo Rossel (FRA) / Guillaume Mercoiret (FRA), Citroën C3

’I feel sorry for Alejandro. Today is my son's first time at the track.‘
