News and Quotes SS2 (Golf und Therme 2)

The second run of ‘Golf and Therme’ took most of the participants into darkness. Toyota driver Kalle Rovanperä completed the stage while it was still light and set the fastest time of 6:23.8 minutes. His teammate and World Championship leader Sébastien Ogier had won the first run, but now had to settle for second place. For Elfyn Evans, who is second in the standings, things did not go smoothly again and he finished the stage in seventh place. Hyundai's Adrien Fourmaux improved to third place, underlining the ambitions of the Koreans, who are determined not to be beaten in the CER.

#17 Sébastien Ogier (FRA) / Vincent Landais (FRA), Toyota GR Yaris Rally

"I was at the limit. I knew it wouldn't get that dark, so I didn't fit the additional headlights. The weather will be decisive tomorrow."

#33 Elfyn Evans (GBR) / Scott Martin (GBR), Toyota GR Yaris Rally1

“I had a clean run. Maybe I was a little too cautious. But nothing special happened. I expect tomorrow to be a mixed day. Let's see what the weather does. I expect the conditions to be difficult.”

#69 Kalle Rovanperä (FIN) / Jonne Halttunen (FIN), Toyota GR Yaris Rally1

"I don't think anyone has ever been as well prepared for a stage as they are for this one. We had two hours to prepare. Everyone will be driving at the limit. The gaps will be very close. I slept for a round."

#8 Ott Tänak (EST) / Martin Järveoja (EST), Hyundai i20 N Rally1

"I made some adjustments to the car and have now tried to get used to them."

#1 Thierry Neuville (BEL) / Martijn Wydaeghe (BEL), Hyundai i20 N Rally1

“I made a few small adjustments to the car. I tried to achieve a better balance. Basically, I feel comfortable in the car. There are a few places where I would like to be faster, but I'm lacking feedback.”

#18 Takamoto Katsuta (JPN) / Aaron Johnston (IRL), Toyota GR Yaris Rally1

“There was a lot of gravel on the inside of the corners. It wasn’t easy to trust the information from the gravel crew, as a lot happened after they cleared it. Nevertheless, they did a good job. There were no surprises. Tomorrow will be a more difficult day.”

#16 Adrien Fourmaux (FRA) / Alexandre Coria (FRA), Hyundai i20 N Rally1

“It’s not fair that we have to drive in the dark. But that’s part of the game. Some were still able to drive in daylight, but it was dark for us. I braked too late in one corner. In the last corner, I couldn’t see the line because the headlights weren’t pointing in the right direction.”
